Applications
All vessels entering US waters require under OPA90:
- a certificate of financial responsibility (water pollution); and
- proof of a guarantor
SIGCo will facilitate the provision of both of these documents.
Form CG5585 is the application for a certificate of financial responsibility ("COFR") and a CG5585 is completed for each operator. When the United States Coast Guard ("USCG") processes the CG5585 application for a vessel, they issue a COFR and assign a Control Number. Vessels sharing the same operator will thus share the same Control Number.
In addition, vessels trading to the US may need an International Carrier Bond in order to satisfy the US Customs & Border Protection's AMS regulations. Each of these processes can be done through this website by using the menu bar above.
